TL;DR

  • We've grown from 270 to more than 300 paying customers and from €27k to €50k MRR since the last meetup, and the 2027 goal is €100k MRR and profitability with the same team.

  • The meetup was about getting work done: customer calls, better development tools and a full customer journey from onboarding to churn.

  • The last two weeks brought new phone integrations, a more powerful Custom widget and a redesigned live chat, and a new brand direction is coming soon.

SQUARE ONE

Last week the whole Herodesk team met at Skarrildhus, a hotel and conference centre in the middle of Jutland, surrounded by forest and quiet. It was our second meetup this year. We work remotely and talk online every day, but two or three times a year all of us are in the same room. Those days are rare, so we try to make the most of them.

This time the theme was simple. Get a lot of work done while we're together. There was less big-picture talk than usual and much more actual work.

We started Wednesday morning with where we're at. Since our last meetup in the spring, we've gone from 7 to 10 full-time people. We've gone from 270 to more than 300 paying customers, and from 850 to >1,000 active users. Our monthly recurring revenue has grown from €27k to €50k. Back then, we had almost no AI agents live with customers; now we have 55, and the AI agent has become one of our biggest growth engines. We raised our prices and didn't lose a single customer over it. The “Got Your Back”-Release went better than we hoped. We now run all of our AI on our own servers, we have 38 integrations with more on the way, and both the product and the infrastructure are more secure than they were six months ago.

Then we talked about 2027, and the goals are clear. We want to double our MRR to €100k. We want to be (and must become!) cash flow positive. Finally, we want to end the year profitable. It probably won’t be much next year, but we’ll get there. Being profitable also means profit-share for the team ✌️

We plan to get there with the team we have today. We'll explore new markets, and do it marketing first. Most of the work, though, is in three places: commercial, customers, and product.

On the commercial side, the rest of 2026 is about building a steady rhythm, so that new meetings and new customers come in every week, not in bursts. That work started right after the planning on Wednesday. Our sales team picked up the phones, turned it into an internal competition and started calling our customers, beginning at one end of the list and plowing through. We have more than 300 paying customers and a lot more to offer them than most of them use today. It was a joy to listen in. The thing we heard most was that customers are very happy with the product and would love to hear more about what else we can do for them. That's about the best feedback you can get on a sales call.

In product, the theme was "sharpen your tools". The goal for 2027 is to stay first on new things while keeping the foundation rock solid. That means improving the core product, building integrations that open new doors, giving our AI agents new capabilities, and making stability a priority.

A big part of that is how we build. I recently started using Grok Bot, and it has changed the way I work. Together with the dev team, I spent the meetup getting a new multi-bot setup up and running. Now I can give it a task, or even a Herodesk ticket with a bug report (using our own MCP), and it spawns several bots that work on the issue together. One is a developer, one does DevOps, one reviews, and so on, working on it over several rounds and using Claude Code for an outside review and fixes. It takes longer to fix each task, and it uses a lot more tokens. But when it's done, it's almost always ready to ship. Together with an automatic Claude review of every merge request, that gives us higher quality, fewer bugs, and a better product. And it was much easier to set up sitting next to each other than it would have been remotely.

In customers, we looked at the whole customer journey. With more than 300 customers and many more joining every week, things have started to scale, and we need to be in control of every step. That covers onboarding, making sure everything works, follow-ups, love calls, the signals that a customer might leave, and how we handle it when they do. By Friday, we had five whiteboards filled with our dream version of that journey and around 20 tasks to put in place afterward.

Some of those are already done. We built an MCP server for HQ, our internal admin system where we manage customers and billing. We also built a new custom widget for our own Herodesk (we use our own product, of course). It looks up the customer in HQ and shows everything relevant right next to the conversation.

I really like that last one, because it's a good example of what custom widgets are for. We can't build integrations to every system in the world, and we're not supposed to. We build for big platforms like Shopify and Magento, and for everything else, we offer custom widgets so customers can build their own integrations. Since we recently made HTML possible, you can show exactly what you need, the way you need it, so it's easier to respond to your customers.

On Thursday afternoon, our new brand values were presented, along with the new direction for how we communicate. Our market has become crowded quickly, and to stand out we need sharp positioning and clear communication. We've worked hard on it, and I won't say much more yet, because it probably deserves its own post. But if you follow Herodesk, you'll notice a new direction in how we talk soon.

It wasn't all work. Skarrildhus is a beautiful place, and both Wednesday and Thursday ended with a good dinner, a beer or a glass of wine or two, and a few hours just to be together in a different way. Because of how we work, we rarely get to do that, so we really appreciate it when we can.

That's the feeling I came home with. These meetups are our chance to recharge our social batteries, get done the things we usually don't get to, and go home ready to keep pushing. I love working remote and wouldn’t change it for any office in the world. And that only makes the meet-ups even better!

2027 is going to be a big year, and I'm already looking forward to the next one.

LIVE FROM HERODESK

While we were planning 2027, the product kept moving. Here's what shipped over the past two weeks:

  • Flexfone CallAI call summaries: Flexfone's AI summary of every call is saved as an internal note on the caller's conversation, so the whole team knows what was said.

  • 3 integration: see who's calling your 3 business numbers, start a conversation from the call and log every call on the customer's contact.

  • Custom widget with HTML and actions: show your own HTML, run actions in your own systems from buttons and forms, and every request is signed.

  • Bulk actions on Advanced Search results, so you can change status on many conversations or merge them in one go.

  • A redesigned live chat widget that works better on mobile and shows message grouping and delivery states. You can now also choose its font, font size and position on desktop and mobile, and it's fully keyboard-accessible.

  • Replies to and mentions in your Instagram and Facebook stories now show up as conversations.

  • The AI agent now follows your communication guidance in every language your customers write in.

  • Audio and video attachments play right in the browser.

Smaller improvements: rules can be duplicated, webshop orders show a "partially fulfilled" status, email signatures can include a title, and the HubSpot widget has been improved. On top of that, we fixed around 15 smaller bugs.
